I met up with the MTRC this morning to go out for a normal Sunday morning run. I needed to get about 15 or 16 miles in today to kind of stay on track with my marathon schedule. Boy was it cold today. 38 degrees with the wind blowing everything around keeping any unwrapped skin frozen. I went out with Leora and she said she would run anything with me even if I had to take walk breaks.
So off we went thinking man it is cold. We got to about 1 1/2 miles and noticed the front of the pack was no where in site. I guess the thought if they ran faster they could get warm faster to go ahead and get finished. We started our run in Macon Ga and went up into Bolingbroke Ga up to I-475 and turning back to turn onto Estes round. We made it to the first water stop at about 5 1/2 miles into the run. I was thinking the whole time I would to love to be back in my bed this morning.
We then pushed forward to continue on our frigid jaunt through the country side seeing a family of 4 deer in an open pasture. We even found one dead on the side of the road with an empty .45 auto shell on the road. When we finished with our second water stop and got to about mile 10, Troy pulled up and asked if we wanted a ride. Well dummy me said no and continued on the journey forward. We made it till about the 12 1/2 mile marker and finally walked the last 1/2 mile into the parking area. Kevin decided not to run home this morning opting to ride home with Leora. FM kept him company and warm while sitting his car until we finished. I was sorry to keep him waiting this morning because Leora told me he was going to run home after the loop cause it was just another 3 miles home.
Well on my way home, I could not figure out why my run was so terible today. I had no energy, my legs were hurting and I forced myself to continue. Before I got out this morning to go into Wal-Mart like I normally do after my Sunday runs, I looked down at my shoes to notice I had on the WRONG shoes. I was wearing my old shoes with about a million miles on them. Now I know why I did not feel so good.
The moral of this story is to try and put out your clothes the noght before so this wont happen to you.

Steve and I went out to the Macon College cross country course and got a little over 5 miles in tonight. We keep a 5:1 ratio to mimic marathon paces. It was nice to just get out and run at the college after the storm damage caused so much havoc. They have changed the course up a little but it is still nice. Steve and I just ran and talked all night about strategies, advice and life in general. I was glad he dragged my out tonight because I really needed to get out and do a 5 miler this week to keep in pace for Disney.

I started back going to the track workouts again. I really missed these. I ran with my friends Tommy Chambers and Steve Gatlin and we did 400 and 800 repeats at about an 8 to 8:30 pace. Everyone else was running ungodly speeds and we decided to go at our own pace and not slow everyone else down. That way we all get a workout in for our own speeeds. I am really feeling it this morning with a little bit of soreness in my hips but that is a good thing. No pain no gain!!!! I am going to try and get about 4 or 5 in tomorrow if the weather doesnt rain us out. Until then, have a blessed day and continue to go at your own speed.

Once again I missed out on a day of running due to my job. I am a Paramedic and I usually have a decent schedule and normally get off time when I am suppose to but therecome days like today when I have to work late. I could go after work and run in the dark but I am just not in the mood after getting off late. This is really the best time to go cause I could work off a little steam and relieve some stress. Well I am going to try and go to speedwork tomorrow night at the track and get in some miles to get ready for Bartram 50K, yes I am going to attempt 31.5 miles in one day without having a heart attack. I am not going to break any land speed records but I am going to try and finish on two good legs. Bye for now.

This was a great day for a race. I ran the half-marathon in preparation for the Disney marathon. I used the Galloway style of running with a 5:1 ratio of running to walking. I kept somewhere near a pace of about 11/min per mile. I have found that this really helps me in my recovery period. I am trying to improve overall with my speed but I am doing it slowly so that I do not injure myself.
The scenery was absolutely beautiful with the leaves changing colors and the deer running through the fields. I had fun with this race. I did not even think about getting a PR. There was so much to look at while you were running.

What a day to remember running with my friends from the MTRC. I finished today with a time of 2:23:19 while running a ratio of 5:1. It was my first time running this ratio because I wanted to try it out to see were it would put me in a marathon time frame. I will put some more info about the race when I get back to the computer. I am working on getting some photos out from the race and going to put them on the MTRC website so check back later. Chow for now.
