Anyone planning to run this Oct 16 over in Pine Mtn. near Callaway? I am going to shoot for the Marathon. I've run on the trails over there some and they are pretty rocky, lots of roots, plenty of hills, but it is scenic...sounds like a decent race for a decent price, get some cool gear too

thanks for posting it. It looks cool. I will be in AR doing the Soaring Wings Half marathon on the 23rd so I will be out of state. Good luck to any that go. Should prove a challenge and neat race

Donna, do you have family in AR? I noticied you have done a few races there. I have ALOT of friends who will be at this race from my previous running club. I hear it's a great half. I will get with you before you go and find out who will be out there so you can meet them! They are a great bunch of people!

I've been pondering doing this one - maybe the half, depending on my race schedule.

Im from there in Arkansas and stay with my dad when I go there, get to visit family and run, woot! I tell you, the Little Rock marathon and half marathon is one of my favorites of all times. Its up there with Snicker. They put on such a wonderful race, you can do early start if need be, and its mostly flat (the half) but the whole has a 3 mile long incline hill that is brutal but its still a wonderful race. I love it. I do the Benton 20K (they have a marathon too) each September (again, its a reason to go visit my dad and I get to run) and this will be the first time doing Soaring Wings. My cousin did it last year and said it was a nice race.

You wont be disappointed doing the Little Rock. Though its usually the week before or the week OF Snicker so last year and this coming 2011 I will have to pick just one. My dad and I are doing Snicker 2011 half this coming year. This March, we did the LR Marathon and I didnt get to do Snicker and the past year, I did the Snicker half then went to AR and the following weekend, did the LR Half. I wish they were a week apart more often! I hate having to choose between some of my favorite races hehe I need more MEs.

I will see you tonight Im sure, out there so holler here or on FB or get your friends in touch with me either way. Love adding friends :)

Hey Donna!!

Sorry I missed you last night. I did the workout from home since the track workout was cancelled. A few of us modified it and just stopped for water when needed.

I loved the LR marathon and half! We lived there for almost 6 years and that marathon seems to grow every year. If you consider running it again, holler at me and i may try to do that one w/ you. I never did attempt the full while we were living there but have run the half a few times along w/ a relay team here and there. The medals are AWESOME!!! Have you ever run Wynne? We used to call the "WIND" marathon b/c it was always windy and that is an out/back course

I will email some friends and include you in on it so that you all can meet up for Soaring Wings Half!! They are a great group!! :bighug:

Andrew, come on man..you got to run at least the full to get a medal for this race! Let me know if you are running, I need an experienced ultra marathoner to run with...Was checking out the trails over there recently and encountered a nice 4 foot Timber Rattlesnake laying his fat body right across the trail, thing was huge...lets hope October is cold enough and keeps them away!

Hello,

I am planning on running the North Face 50K, I do some long runs out at LH thompson on Saturday mornings @ 6:30, if you would like to come and run with us. There are 2 others that usually go running with me. I would like to get together a group and go to Pine Mountain sometime soon, I have never been there before. Let me know!!

I may try and do that one weekend, I live in Bonaire. I was in Pine Mtn. last week doing a 5 mile run and saw a big rattlesnake. You may want to wait before you go over there! The trails are tough, lots of rocks and roots in sections, definitely some hills too. It is a good trail though, well maintained and scenic in parts. I'm sure it will be a good race when the weather cools down

I live in Bonaire also, I wanted to go to Pine Mountain when mileage started climbing like it will this month, but definately by September. but I do NOT like snakes. maybe if I can get a group to go, all the pounding will scare the snakes off.

TiffanyR, I'll carpool up with you if you want company. I've always wanted to run up there but wanted someone else up there with me. It's the being a woman and running by myself thing that has always scared me a bit. (I'm a big chicken).

Let me know if you want to go up there. Even if we run at different paces we will know when we started and when we should both finish. We can keep tabs on each other thereby making it safer.

Doug, you are more than welcome and invited as well.

I actually emailed the state park system about it and they said they have seen a lot of snakes this year. They were going to post signs etc. to warn people. I'll probably want to get back over there sometime in september to check it out some more
