Firecracker 5K & 10K Wrightsville, 7:15 (10K) & 8:30 (5K) Lisa Troup organizes this race in her hometown of Wrightsville, (about 60 miles east of Macon) and it receives rave reviews every year. Proceeds fund next year's fireworks show, there is a wonderful parade after the race, and it's part of the Run & See Georgia Grand Prix. Read about last year's race in the August 2007 Macon Tracks newsletter. If you register before June 26th, it's only $20 to run both races! |

Make It By Midnight Marathon & Half-Marathon Macon, start time varies Plan to finish this race as close to midnight as possible without going over. If you finish before midnight, you get a tiara (even the guys), and if you finish after midnight, you get a pumpkin! Estimate your expected completion time and record the time when you start running. Bring reflective clothing and a flashlight for after it gets dark. The cost is only $5 plus a donation of food supplies for the aid stations. Register early, as the field is limited to 25. Fellow Marathon Maniacs Andrew Strickland and Deborah Botkin will be your host and hostess for this creative event! |

Bragg Jam's 2008 Moonlight Miles 5KMacon, 8:30 pm (Saturday evening race) 11th Hour editor, Chris Horne, has put together this 1st annual race and it promises to be loads of fun. It will be an evening race, beginning at 8:30pm and continuing as the sun goes down—"the cool way to beat the heat". Runners will meet at 7:30pm in the parking lot in front of Luther Williams Field and take a trolley to the Moonlight Miles start near Shirley Hills. The course will follow the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail and end in Central City Park. It's part of the Macon Tracks Piedmont Sports Medicine Race Series and a Run & See Georgia race. After all that exercise, you'll be in great shape to come back the next weekend and hear all the fabulous bands playing at the Bragg Jam Festival! |

Ocmulgee Adventure Race Macon, 7:00 am - 8:30 am Check in The Ocmulgee Adventure Race (OAR) is a 4 hour sprint adventure race featuring paddling, mountain biking, river swimming, and hiking/trekking with navigation throughout. The course is designed for beginners, but will provide a good challenge for experienced teams. You may race solo or in teams of 2 or 3, but only co-ed teams of 3 will be eligible for prize money. You must register by July 11th. All proceeds go to the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail. All racers will receive one pass to Bragg Jam 2008, so plan to stay and listen to great music that evening! |

Herrin Memorial 5K & 10KWarner Robins, 7:30 am (1-mile fun run at 8:15) The Robins Pacers sponsor this race each year as a memorial to the late Jim Herrin, past president of the Robins Pacers. The proceeds of this race will be split evenly to fund two annual one-time scholarships for a senior boy and a girl graduating from a high school in Houston County who has significant track and field and/or cross-country participation and college ambitions. This race is part of the Macon Tracks Piedmont Sports Medicine Race Series and is also a Run & See Georgia race. $17 when pre-registering by August 2nd ($16 for Macon Tracks members), $12 for age 19 & under anytime, $20 on race day. |

Macon Labor Day Road Race 5K/10K/Fun RunMacon, 7:15 5K, 7:45 10K, 9 am Fun Run This annual Macon Labor Day tradition features a fast point-to-point course, wicking shirts, and family-friendly atmosphere. Team competitions are back, so grab your spouse, parent, child, or get a team of 5 together for even more fun. Use your 10K time as a Peachtree Road Race qualifier for next year. Walkers are welcome to do the 5K. On-line registration is available through Paypal with no service fee. Register early, as shirts are not guaranteed after August 18th. Race for Camp Little ShotMacon. 5K starts at 9:00 am at the Jones center on Sheridan Blvd. (across the street from Jocks and Jills). Camp Little Shot was started by Dr. Tom Jones 28 years ago for children with diabetes in Macon and the surrounding area. Elizabeth Jones does a great job directing this race, and the awards are made by the children at camp. The course has a few hills, so start doing those hill repeats now to get ready! |

Run for the Health of it 5K/10.5K/Fun RunHawkinsville, 8:30 am Jeff Galloway will present a free running clinic to all participants after the awards ceremony. This is the 4th annual running of this race sponsored by Taylor Regional Hospital, and it starts at the Hawkinsville High School (about 45 minutes south of Macon). It's part of the Macon Tracks Piedmont Sports Medicine Race Series, so pre-register to get your $1 discount. It's also a Run & See Georgia Grand Prix race. Jay's Hope 5K & 10K 5K starts at 7:30, 10K at 8:15, Festival from 9-12. Join us for a run/walk beginning at Macon’s Central City Park and continuing through Macon’s beautiful Ocmulgee Heritage Trail. All proceeds will benefit the Jay’s Hope Foundation, so come support Cindy Gaskins in all the great work she does to help families with children who have cancer.
