July 4th
(Saturday)

Firecracker 5K & 10K
Wrightsville, 7:00 (10K), 8:15 (5K), & 1-mile fun run at 8:30

Lisa Troup organizes this race in her hometown of Wrightsville, (about 60 miles east of Macon) and it receives rave reviews every year. Proceeds fund next year's fireworks show, there is a wonderful parade after the race, and it's part of the Run & See Georgia Grand Prix.  If you register before June 26th, it's only $20 to run both races.  New this year: awards for the fastest combined times for the 5K and 10K races, and the courses will be certified!
July 18th

Race Series Logo Moonlight Miles 5K
Macon, 8:30 pm (Saturday evening race)

Get ready to run, walk, jog, skip, or hop yourself silly under the summer moon as the 2nd Annual Moonlight Miles 5K race kicks off on July 18, 2009. The route begins at Tatnall Square Park and runs through beautiful In-Town Macon to Poplar Street and back to the park. Unlike any other race in middle Georgia, the Moonlight Miles begins at 9:00 p.m. and continues as the sun goes down— the cool way to beat the heat.  $250 cash prize to fastest male and female.  It's part of the Macon Tracks Piedmont Sports Medicine Race Series.  Go to www.braggjam.org/moonlight-miles  for more information.
July 25th
Ocmulgee Adventure Race
Uptown Rotary Ocmulgee Adventure Race
Macon, 7:00 am - 8:30 am Check in

This year the Uptown Rotary Ocmulgee Adventure Race (U-ROAR) includes both a 4-hour sprint and an 8-hour extended adventure race to challenge both beginners and elites.  Both races feature paddling, mountain biking, river swimming, and hiking/trekking with navigation throughout.   You may race solo or in teams of 2 or 3, but only co-ed teams of 3 will be eligible for prize money.  Proceeds go to the Macon Rescue Mission and the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail.  Get your team ready and go find those checkpoints! 
July 25th

Make It My Midnight
Make It By Midnight Marathon & Half-Marathon
Macon, start time varies

Plan to finish this race as close to midnight as possible without going over.  If you finish before midnight, you get a tiara (even the guys), and if you finish after midnight, you get a pumpkin!  Estimate your expected completion time and record the time when you start running.  Bring reflective clothing and a flashlight for after it gets dark.  The cost is only $5 plus a donation of food supplies for the aid stations.  Register early, as the field is limited to 25.  Fellow Marathon Maniacs Andrew Strickland and Deborah Botkin will be your host and hostess for this creative event!

Pig Trail XTerra 10K Trail Run
Macon, 8:30

The race will start in the open field (down by the lake) at The Georgia Industrial Children's Home (required for spacing) but will soon lead into the woods. The terrain is made up of rolling hills, climbs, single track, double track, and roots with some technical sections.  $30 before July 14th.
August 8th
Jim Herrin logo
Race Series Logo Jim Herrin Memorial 5K & 10K
Warner Robins, 7:30 am (1-mile fun run at 8:15)

The Robins Pacers sponsor this race each year as a memorial to the late Jim Herrin, past president of the Robins Pacers.  The proceeds of this race will be split evenly to fund two annual one-time scholarships for a senior boy and a girl graduating from a high school in Houston County who has significant track and field and/or cross-country participation and college ambitions.   The entry fee is $17 before August 1st and only $12 for age 19 and under any time.  This race is part of the Macon Tracks Piedmont Sports Medicine Race Series and is also a Run & See Georgia race. 
Aug. 21st (Friday evening)

Race Series Logo Feed the Bears 5K
Macon, 7:00 pm (Fun Run at 6:30 pm)

Enjoy a Friday evening run on the historic Mercer University Campus in support of the Mercer University Cross Country Team.  $15 if you register before August 14th.  Macon Tracks members get $1 off when pre-registering.  This race is part of the Macon Tracks Piedmont Sports Medicine Race Series and a Run & See Georgia Grand Prix race.  E-mail Coach Ryan Bailey for more information.

Rock Hawk 5K & Half-marathon XTerra Trail Run
Eatonton, 8:30

The race will start on a street (required for spacing) but will soon lead into the woods. The terrain is made up of a little bit of everything, rolling hills, climbs, single track, double track, roots, running on granite next to the beautiful lake along with some technical sections.  Early registration ends August 10th.

This annual Macon Labor Day tradition features a fast point-to-point course, gender-specific wicking shirts, and a family-friendly atmosphere.  For even more fun, enter the Parent/Child, Husband/Wife, or Team of 5 competition.  Use your 10K time as a Peachtree Road Race qualifier for next year.  Walkers are welcome to do the 5K.  On-line registration is available with no service fee.  Register early, as shirts are not guaranteed after August 24th.  This is a Macon Tracks Piedmont Sports Medicine Series Race and also part of the Run & See Georgia Grand Prix.  Release your inner Super Hero!

Macon, 9:00 am

Directed by Elizabeth Jones, proceeds benefit Camp Little Shot, a free camp for children with diabetes.  The awards are made by the children at camp and are always creative. Part of the Run & See Georgia Grand Prix and the Macon Tracks Piedmont Sports Medicine Race Series.

City of Gordon Fall Line Festival 5K

5K starts at 8am, Fun Run afterward.

Stay after the run and enjoy free entertainment, a classic car show, arts & crafts, antique tractor events, activities for kids, food, and free birthday cake.  This is a Run & See Georgia Grand Prix race and part of the Macon Tracks Piedmont Sports Medicine Race Series.  Only $12 if you register before Sept. 30th and Macon Tracks members receive $1 off of that!

Milledgeville, 8:00 am (7:30 am fun run)

Macon Tracks member Bonnie Murphey is organizing this race to benefit  Domestic Violence Awareness  “Shatter the Silence ~ Stop the Violence”.   The course begins at the Tri-County Shrine Club.  $15 if you register before Sept. 14th.  Part of the Macon Tracks Piedmont Sports Medicine Race Series and the Run & See Georgia Grand Prix.

Oct. 10th

Run for the Health of it 5K & Fun Run
Hawkinsville, 8:30 am 5K, 9:00 am 1-mile

This is the 5th annual running of this race sponsored by Taylor Regional Hospital.  Hawkinsville is about 45 minutes south of Macon.  Part of the Run & See Georgia Grand Prix.

5K starts at 8:00, 10K at 9:00, Fun Run at 10:30, Festival from 9 am -1 pm.

Join us for a run/walk benefitting the Jay’s Hope Foundation.  Come support Cindy Gaskins in all the great work she does to help families with children who have cancer.  This year there will be special incentives for runners wearing costumes!  The Jay's Hope race is a Macon Tracks Piedmont Sports Medicine Series Race and also part of the Run & See Georgia Grand Prix.

Race Series Logo Peacemakers 5K
Macon, 9:00 a.m.

Run through the Ocmulgee National Monument Indian Mounds on a scenic, cross-country course.  Enjoy racing through the woods like the Mississipian Indians did thousands of years ago.  Proceeds benefit Peacemakers, an organization that teaches life skills to children ages 8-13.  Go to www.pbwm.org for more information.  Part of the Macon Tracks Piedmont Sports Medicine Race Series.
Nov. 28th
Bartram Forest Tree
Race Series Logo Bartram Forest 50K & 26.2 Miler
8 am, Bartram Forest near Milledgeville.

Nothing fancy, just a 5.25 mile loop of wide easy trails through beautiful Bartram Forest.  Run the loop 6 times for the 50K, 5 for the marathon, or just come run a few loops for fun.  The food is plentiful and all marathon and 50K finishers receive a homemade gingerbread man trophy.  It's only $10 if you register before Sept. 1st and Macon Tracks members get a $5 discount.  The race is part of the Macon Tracks Piedmont Sports Medicine Race Series.  Run 3 loops and get 20 points, triple points for marathon finishers and quadruple for 50K finishers.
